So far so good … I've only had them for 2 months. We picked Speed Queen because through the years we have gone through 4 sets of washers and dryers. Speed Queen was recommended because of the quality and the longevity. Plus Speed Queen is made in the USA.

When we bought our home several years ago, a Speed Queen washer and dryer set was included. Based on the documents we had, that set was many many years old. They eventually reached end of life and needed to be replaced. We went the cheap route and purchased used on the digital marketplace. Long story short, we went through 3 washers and 2 dryers in 5 years. Growing tired of this situation, we decided to just bite the bullet and purchase a new Speed Queen washer and dryer set.
They are fabulous - very quiet and gets the job done. A bit pricey - but as we found out, you get what you pay for, and the manufacturer warranty is also top of the line. We'll never need to purchase another washer and dryer set. I have no doubt that this Speed Queen set will still be working for the next owners of our home.

For washers and dryers, we have only ever spent our hard earned money on Speed Queen products. We bought our first washer and dryer set in 2012, and really loved the durability. We left this set for the next homeowner when we sold the house and moved to Arizona. Our next home included a "super fancy pants" LG washer and dryer. For me, LG is the absolute worst quality brand for anything, and I will never purchase their products. The washer had no agitator, and my wife hated it. It washed ok for about a year, but began leaving clothes dirty. After less than an 8-year product life, we kicked the LG garbage to the curb and spent our own money on a new Speed Queen set. I don't like shelling out over $2,000 for appliances, but I know we are getting a quality product and getting our money's worth with Speed Queen. We are extremely satisfied and happy to be using Speed Queen again for laundry.

I like the Speed Queen DR5004WG Dryer, however, if I had it to do over again I would have spent the extra $$ for the DR7004WG. There are really only two problems - first is the end of cycle buzzer does not work. There is nothing in the Owner's Manual about how to turn it on and off and once we finally located something about it on the internet it worked once or twice but never again. We contacted both Speed Queen and our dealer and they were about as clueless about the issue as we were. They did come back and say - "you're right" there is nothing in the owner's manual". Anyway, it still doesn't work to this day - I finally just gave up and live without it. Even when it did work those few times it was so quiet I couldn't hear it unless I was extremely close to the unit. We contact Speed Queen with no resolution. The other issue with the DR500 vs the DR700 is there is no indication of how much time is remaining in the cycle. I knew that from the beginning and thought it wouldn't matter but, in hindsight, it does.

Had LG washer and dryer. Washer broke after 1.5years - not fixable per LG. Went to Appliance store and asked for something that will never break. Recommended Speed Queen which I had already investigated online based on my time at the laundromat and was thinking about. Bought both the washer and dryer. They are simple and they work and with a 5 year warranty. Clothes are cleaner than ever and always dry! I expect it to keep working for years - no more laundromat!!

Opinion is split, as in the title. Our first dryer lasted less than 2 weeks before dying. It took WEEKS to get someone to look at it. The Tech determined it was a total loss. Nothing we did just poor parts/assembly. It then took several WEEKS to finally get Speed Queen to admit the error and then took two more WEEKS to get one delivered. The replacement has operated fine for five months. Overall, the purchase of this dryer was the worst experience for an appliance ever. Our grown children could not believe we were treated so poorly. If the current one fails I will haul it to the dump rather than go through WEEKS of wet laundry hanging in the house in the dead of winter.

Dryer overall is great. Just wish it had a few additional features. Like more than just 30 min and 60 min timed dry and a sliding scale for automatic sensing drying. Didn't hook up the steam feature. Just one more thing to leak.

This machine is very easy to use (not too many gadgets) and does a great job. The only thing I miss, which was on my other product, is a buzzer at the end to tell me the cycle is completed. But...I'm learning to check when I think the time is about up. I would highly recommend this product.

Review of Speed Queen products DR5004WE and TC5003WN.
I am very disappointed in the Speed Queen clothes washer and dryer that I purchased about a year ago. I want to return them for a refund.
Here are some of the issues with these machines:
• The washer has destroyed nearly a dozen items of my clothing. I've never before owned a washing that destroyed my clothes.
• The washing does not get enough water out of the clothes when it spins. When I remove clothes from the washer, there is usually a little puddle in the bottom of the tub. When the washer ends a cycle, I can often wring water out of the clothes. If I run a rinse-only cycle and open the lid right after it stops spinning, a shower of water comes down from the top of the tub... all the way around. This water should have drained during the spin. I never before owned a washer that leaves so much water in the clothes. This is probably why the dryer takes three times longer to dry clothes than my previous dryer.
• Quite often, the washer gets out of balance when it spins and bangs loudly against the inside wall of the machine, scaring me half to death.
• Because I cannot control the precise amount of water in the the washer, this machine is using much more water than it should and costing me more money on the water bill.
• Because the soak cycle just sits there and doesn't do any agitating, it's doing a horrible job of cleaning extra-soiled clothes. My previous machine would periodically agitate gently during the soak cycle, allowing the clothes to gently rub against each other or themselves, which got my clothes much cleaner.
• Most of the time the dryer doesn't actually get the clothes dry using the automatic drying sensor cycle. Usually (not always) the automatic cycle will work for the first load of the day. But on subsequent loads, the dryer stops working after a few minutes while the clothes are very damp to the touch. So then I have to use the timer cycles, which is also a waste of time and money because the only choices are 30 or 60 minutes, when I might only need 20 or 40 minutes.
• The dryer squeaked so loud that I had to wear ear protection when I'm in the same room. I had a Speed Queen repair-person try to stop the squeaks. He said he replaced every moving part in the dryer except the drum, and that did not helped at all. I called the repair person again, and when came the second time he noticed some poorly designed brackets on the back of the dryer that were not holding some dryer pieces together. He modified these brackets and that solved the squeaking problem. But this speaks to the general qualify of the machines.
I honestly wish I could return them for at least a partial refund. Speed Queen, can you arrange this... PLEASE!!!

Had my old GE dryer for 27 years- time for a new one. Had two different appliance service companies look at it since I still had a service contract on it - if they can't fix it, they pay me a set amount. Both repair men told me to get a speed queen. I never looked at another brand. I was sold on the construction, product features and warranty. I love that it's made in the USA. I love the 5 year warranty. I love that it will probably out live me - I'm 60. The store worked with me on the price and I even got a $100 rebate.

As a former educator of customer service skills in the retail sector for over 45yrs, I rarely take time to write product reviews. I believe product reliability and word of mouth will improve a brand's reputation and bottom line without playing the 5 star child's game invented by our overseas trade partners.
So, it's a BIG DEAL for me to be writing about my surprisingly pleasant experience with my new Speed Queen Washer and Dryer!
I recently repaired a failing Maytag dryer (again), and as soon as it was working the washing machine stopped spinning. After repairs that did not fix the problem, it was determined the transmission failed AGAIN. Even if parts were still available, it wouldn't be cost effective doing this a second time. Well, I can't complain too much for an 18yr old appliance set, but I still expected things to last like my first washer & dryer set that lasted over 25yrs. They don't build'em like they used to – Right?
Wrong! After checking local appliances in a few showrooms and asking questions of sales associates I realized the vast majority of name brand appliances are very inexpensively made these days and have a life expectancy of about 8 years, 10 at most. I opened a lid on a formerly good quality name brand washing machine and it buckled! And checking other parts or fancy knobs and electronic switches I realized I could purchase one of these plastic and foil contraptions full of bells and whistles for a fraction of the real cost of producing a quality product, and then toss it in 5-8 years because repairs become too expensive or obsolete.
Or, I could spend comparatively the same price my parents spent on a new laundry set 50yrs ago (prorating the value of the dollar from then to today). While the price today seemed astronomical compared to these modern plastic and foil appliances, the Speed Queen quality was touchable and visible and it was apparent the appliances were well made. After much research to justify the higher cost, I realized I would be purchasing appliances made with the same standards as those 50yrs ago, but with many modern updates to fit today's lifestyles and efficiency mandates.
Too many electronic panels to break down on other appliances without replacement parts being available was one concern I don't need to worry about on these Speed Queen models. Yes, electronics are involved due to efficiency mandates, but much less of them are needed to meet codes and get the job done effectively. The best part of my new residential model washing machine is that it does NOT have a traditional transmission to break down. It uses a slightly different method to more gently wash modern clothing – a feature I was hoping to find in my new appliance. Surprisingly, after several loads I find this newer wash method actually cleans my clothes BETTER than my 20yr old traditional agitator Maytag. I do a lot of gardening and sometimes get jeans quite dirty but this was not a problem. I have to stop and listen to be sure the washer is working it's so quiet! But the clothes come out cleaner with less detergent use, and with a stronger motor, they are spun dryer than in my old model machine which reduces time drying.
I almost didn't purchase the matching dryer but I decided I wanted to begin fresh with an appliance that had a new warranty and would probably last the rest of my life as dryers are easier and less expensive to repair. Surprisingly it seems a bit more efficient than my older dryer and comes with extra features on the high efficiency model [with a local rebate on its way back to me]. I particularly like the steam press cycle for refreshing shirts. And with the extended tumble my clothes are never wrinkled at the end of the cycle if I forget them for a couple of hours.
Speaking of repairs, I'm also impressed that both laundry appliances came with a 5yr warranty and research revealed the Speed Queen company stands behind their reputation with their warranty service. Did I mention the plastic and foil appliances produced by other major brands don't come close to this extensive warranty? They can't, because foil and plastic does not hold up over time like the heavy duty metals and higher quality parts used to produce Speed Queen models!
Thank you Alliance Laundry/Speed Queen for continuing to produce quality appliances like our grandparents could purchase, but with modern options and efficiency built right in for today's generations.
Remind new buyers that your products cost the same in today's dollars as our grandparents spent on their appliances in their own dollars. We get what we pay for and that's easily apparent in Speed Queen washers and dryers today.

Speed Queen came highly recommended to me and for the first 2 weeks my dryer ran great....but then on a regular 60 minute cycle the dryer would overheat and shut down. The company sent a new board to the store repair person and he replaced the control board...hope that fixed it. Not impressed that the dryer stopped working properly 2 weeks into purchase.

We replaced our 6-year old LG front load washer and dryer with a Speed Queen set. No comparison at all. Speed Queen drys clothes quickly and on only one cycle. The LG would have to be restarted numerous times to get the clothes dry. Yes, they are expensive, but they are American made. This should be the last set we ever have to buy.

We bought the dryer DR5004WE to use with a new SQ washer. It is capacious, but we still use wool felt dryer balls to keep items from bundling up as they tumble. Noted that some people dislike the choice between a 30 minute and 60 minute timer. Our solution is to open the dryer when we want to stop the cycle before it ends and use a phone timer to track the desired time. Agree that the end-cycle bell is quieter than expected; you need to be nearby to hear it. We use the less-dry setting for most clothing; a higher setting for towels and bedding. Lint screen easy to clean. Like the LED lighting inside.
